Do appreciate the offering but personally I haven't dealt with any fixed-font, plain-text documents since dot-matrix printers were the standard.For the past 24 years, Trans-Tex Software has been dedicated to the principle that good software doesn't have to be expensive and difficult to use. Some of the features seem odd, I can't fathom ever wanting to import a picture as text art, randomizing or reversing lines, etc.

Text Edit Plus won't help with category one and although it probably has some very nice features compared to WordPad but just isn't handy for category two without a portable version if I can't use it on whatever machine I happen to be at (e.g., conference room, client site, relatives house, etc.) where WordPad is everywhere. which all use rich text formatting (bold, italic, proportional fonts, etc.) and 2) text files like programming code, config files, scripts, batch commands, etc.) I create and edit a fair amount of files which fall in two categories: 1) reports, manuals, etc. It appears to be a solution to a problem which doesn't exist. I always appreciate the offerings on GAOTD but will be passing on this one. Other language are downloadable from a GitHub repository. Comes with 3 languages of spell checker pre-installed English US, English UK, German.
Not a sensible calming experience for new users to any given program or highly infrequent users that do not use it regularly enough to retain memory of what the little icons all do.

As is one has to guess and remember and trial press buttons to see what it might do. Small icons are NOT universal in meaning so need tool tips or at least the status bar spell check language text down at the bottom left of the window could change to what would be the tooltip text as toolbar icons are moused over. One user interface feature I feel is necessary for immediate and more intuitive new user use are tooltip functionality on the toolbar icons.

the computers activation data is stored on the host machine regardless of if the portable download is used or not.

the license is not truly portable as it has to activate the license when it is first plugged into a new computer and after a while the giveaway license expires for new activations which is what they call that operation. Had this as version 8.8 and have installed this new version and downloaded the portable and activated it. * Insert text into beginning or end of lines * Command system for extracting desired text * Change background color and font properties If you are looking for a capable and easy to use text edit app, Text Edit Plus will give you what you want. A lot of quick-edit functions can prove invaluable when small fine-tunes are needed. It provides an arsenal of features for text manipulation.
The application can load text files, such as TXTs, CSVs and HTMLs. Text Edit Plus comes with a clean and simple interface that newcomers will find very easy to grasp. The ability to compute word frequencies can allow users to easily spot and quantify repetitions. Its analysis module can be valuable when quick statistics on text documents are needed.
The software is a general-purpose editor and useful for anyone who regularly works with text documents. The application is designed as an alternative to Notepad, by offering a wider set of features.
It is a lightweight tool that enables users to easily create new text documents or modify existing ones. Text Edit Plus is a simple but powerful plain text editor with helpful features.
